I’ve had a bit of a funny week on the Chirpse. I wrote a guide to picking shrooms where I ended up telling you not to pick shrooms. I followed that with a guide to lucid dreaming where I failed to lucid dream. Now I bring you a guide to spotting someone who’s possessed by demons without believing in demons. What’s wrong with me? Oh well, there’s always next week.
Whether you believe in demons or not you can use the following list to wind up people who do believe in demons, or it could come in handy for next years uber-realistic demon Halloween outfit.
For this guide I drew extensively from the Spiritual Science Research Foundation’s website. Any organisation with an oxymoron in their name – “spiritual science” – is bound to be a wealth of giggles. I wasn’t disappointed. Later on I’ll show you some magnificently ridiculous pseudo-semi-science diagrams I ripped off their site; they are honestly the funniest and most ridiculous things I’ve seen for ages.
First of all though I’ll show you some of the ways to tell if your nearest and dearest are possessed. Unfortunately many of the “signs” of possession could well be attributed to mental illness, so perusing this list is a little like stepping into medieval England or rural Sub-Saharan Africa where being a “witch” could literally land you in hot water.
Unfortunately, in many places demon possession isn’t a daft thing to believe in. In one American questionnaire 68% of Americans who voted Republican believed in demon possession and only 48% believed in climate change. That, my friends, is terrifying. Interestingly only 37% believed in ghosts, what’s up with that?
Throughout this post I will put up photos of so-called possessed people (like the one above), all of whom are mentally unstable, faking it or on drugs (in my humble opinion).
The person who’s put this demonic checklist online has been quite thoughtful and split it down into three easy to digest chunks. First up we’ll look at the mental changes to look out for.
